How often do you make decisions based on what other people might think? 🤔
Have you ever…
👍🏼 Said “yes” when you wanted to say “no” or “fck off”?
🤐 Stayed quiet to keep the peace?
🧐 Changed your opinion because someone disagreed with you?
Put everyone else’s needs before your own?
If so, you might be abandoning your authentic self because you’re seeking external validation and approval.
For most people, this starts in childhood. 👧
If you grew up believing love had to be earned, or that keeping everyone happy was the safest option, you probably normalised putting yourself last.
The problem is, the more you seek approval from others, the more disconnected you become from yourself. 🥺
One of the biggest shifts I see in my clients is that they stop asking everyone else for permission to be themselves.
One of my Project Self Worth members summed it up perfectly:
“I learnt the importance of reciprocation. I stopped being a giver to takers and started prioritising myself. The techniques were practical and I was able to apply them immediately.” – Maya P
That’s what happens when your self-worth starts to grow. 🥰
You stop trying to earn love by abandoning yourself.
A QUESTION FOR YOU TO REFLECT ON TODAY
If everyone stopped approving of your decisions tomorrow… would you still make the same ones? 🤨
It’s a confronting question.
But it might also be one of the most important questions you’ll ever ask yourself.
This month, I want to encourage you to replace one question:
“What will everyone else think?”
with;
“What feels true for me?”
Choosing yourself doesn’t mean everyone will agree with your decisions.
It means you’re finally making them for the right person. 🫶🏻
