I used to think healing meant peace.
That once I left the chaos behind… the toxic relationships, the drama, the constant overthinking.. I’d finally be free.
I thought it would feel calm, light, and effortless.
Some days, it absolutely does. 🥰
You wake up and feel like your heart has finally unclenched. You’re grounded. Grateful.
You can breathe again.
But sometimes, out of nowhere… bam.
A song, a smell, a memory… suddenly you’re right back there, feeling it all again. 🥺
And you think, “Why the fuck am I back here? I thought I healed this!”
THE MESSY TRUTH
Healing isn’t a straight line, it’s a spiral, and like layers of an onion. 🧅
I hear from clients all the time that when they get triggered and the same old wound keeps reappearing, they feel like they’ve done so much work on it but question whether any of it even worked.
Yes, it’s worked.
But you’re just being shown another layer – a deeper layer that hasn’t been healed yet.
And because it’s deeper, it hurts more. 😳
That’s some gnarly shit when you get to the core wounding – not gunna sugar coated, it fucking HURTS.
But each time, you meet them from a higher level of awareness.
You soothe instead of self-destruct.
You catch yourself mid-spiral and think, “Oh… I know this pattern. I’ve been here before.”
That’s growth. 💫
The old you would’ve gone down the rabbit hole for days.
Now you can stop, breathe, and choose differently.
That’s what healing actually looks like.
SOME DAYS YOU’LL FEEL SOOOOO FREE
Other days you’ll feel like you’ve gone backwards.
Both mean you’re growing.
Healing isn’t about never getting triggered again… it’s about learning how to hold yourself when you do.
It’s realising that even on the hard days, you’re still further along than you think. 🤔
That every wave, every tear, every wobble is your nervous system recalibrating, showing you what still needs love. ❤️
Sometimes healing looks like ugly crying on the bathroom floor, whispering “I’ve got you” to yourself while your inner child freaks out.
You’re not back at square one if you have a bad day, you’re just being shown how far you’ve come.
The goal isn’t to never wobble again, it’s to stop abandoning yourself when you do.
And that’s the part I wish I’d known sooner.
Healing isn’t about becoming perfect, it’s about accepting the messy, triggered, vulnerable bits, too.
If this hits home, that’s exactly what we work through inside Project Self Worth: learning to love the version of you that’s still healing, not just the one who’s “finished.”
Because now you’re learning a new way. 🖤
