The power of words

Are you aware of the power of the words you’re using day in and day out? 🗣️

I was listening to my coach talk about this on her podcast The Mind School where she was interviewing a psychologist who said the term “experiencing depression” instead of “struggling with depression“.

A lot of people wouldn’t pick up on the intentional change in wording there, but this is something I do too.

By changing the way you word things, you’re changing the power of the words you’re telling yourself each day.

Take a look at these statements, and notice how different they feel:

I’m struggling with depression 😶‍🌫️

I’m experiencing symptoms of depression

My back pain

The pain I’m experiencing in my back

I’m stupid

Occasionally I do stupid things

They made me angry 😡

Something they did or said brought up feelings of anger in me

The way you word things matters and the words you choose can either support your growth or hinder it.

How can you reframe the things you’re telling yourself? 🤔

I’d love to hear your reframes in the comments.
