Why you can sometimes feel worse after a healing session (And why it’s actually a good sign)

 

My clients walk into a session feeling heavy, stuck, anxious, drained… and leave feeling lighter. 🙌🏻

 

A lot of them just continue to feel amazing – they get a great sleep and feel happy and light.

 

But for some clients, this isn’t the case for the first few days. 🥴

 

They’re emotional, tired, headachy, irritable.

 

They have weird dreams, old memories popping up. Their body feels like it’s processing something.

 

And they start thinking;

 

“Wait… wasn’t I supposed to feel better?” 🤔

 

But here’s the thing; healing doesn’t just release things leading to instant amazingness… your body also has to process what you released.

 

And it’s the processing part that isn’t always comfortable.

 

You know when you start decluttering a messy cupboard?

 

Well initially, you pull everything out to organise it, and it just looks like a fucking mess. 🥺

 

It looks WAY worse before it gets better. Stuff everywhere, dirt and dust flying around, out of date shit you forgot existed and at some point you probably wonder why you even started.

 

Healing can be the same.

 

Energy work, sound healing, Reiki, coaching, emotional release; all of it can bring things to the surface so they can actually clear.

 

And when things come to the surface…

 

You feel them.

 

WHAT’S ACTUALLY GOING ON

 

After a deep session, a few things can kick in:

 

🌀 Emotional releases continue processing

🌀 Your nervous system recalibrates

🌀 Your body detoxes energetically, physically, mentally, emotionally and

spiritually

🌀 Old suppressed emotions move out

🌀 Your subconscious reorganises patterns

🌀 Your energy field integrates the shift

 

This can show up as:

 

🥱 Fatigue

🤯 Headaches

😭 Feeling emotional

💤 Vivid dreams

🤬 Irritability

✋🏼 Needing space

🤯 Temporary anxiety

🫠 Feeling flat before feeling lighter

 

This is often called integration or energetic detox.

 

You may feel like you’re going backwards but it’s actually progress.

 

WHY SOME FEEL THIS MORE THAN OTHERS

 

You’re more likely to feel this if:

 

🫣 You released something deep

😬 You’ve been holding things in for a long time

🫪 You’re very energetically sensitive

🫥 You don’t normally slow down and feel emotions

😳 Your body isn’t used to processing safely

🤗 Big shifts occurred in the session

 

It’s important to know that this phase usually passes quickly; the energy work keeps doing its thing for around 3-7 days after an energy treatment.

 

Once it passes, people often report feeling lighter, more clarity, feeling calm, better sleep, less mental noise, feeling more like themselves and feeling more grounded and steady.

 

It’s like the emotional storm passes… and the sky clears. ⛅️ 

 

WHAT HELPS DURING INTEGRATION

 

If you feel a bit off after a session, you can support your body by:

 

💦 Drinking lots of water

🛌 Rest if you’re tired

🏝️ Spend time in nature

🛑 Avoid heavy environments

✍🏻 Journal what comes up

😭 Let emotions move (don’t suppress them)

🚶‍♀️ Gentle movement like walking

😴 Early night if needed

 

Don’t fight the process and give yourself grace for how you’re feeling.

 

Your body knows what it’s doing.
