How to stop living a mediocre life

I was listening to the Ed Mylett Show the other day where Ed interviewed Dean Gratsiosi and the episode was SO good with so many takeaways that I wanted to share.

The guys had a good chat where they distilled down their top tips for living a happy and successful life; here’s my fave takeaways from the show about their blueprint for happiness.

HAPPINESS COMES FROM STRETCHING OURSELVES

Ed and Dean both live the kind of lives where they are constantly stretching and growing themselves by finding a way to be hungry for something.

Are you finding a way to be hungry for something?

Our growth comes from stretching, and success lives on the other side of doing the thing we fear the most.

Moving forward by taking uncomfortable action; the uncomfortableness is what builds your character.

DITCH WHAT DOESN’T SERVE YOU ANY MORE

This includes ditching limiting beliefs, past baggage, toxic people and environments, and all the clutter in your house and life that isn’t serving you.

TAKE TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVERYTHING

When you blame others, you stop your opportunity for growth.

Take full responsibility for your successes and failures.

LIVE A CONGRUENT LIFE

When nobody is watching you, are you still acting in a way that is congruent with who you say you are?

The things you do when nobody is watching is just as important as what you do when around other people.

Be somebody that you would be proud of if your loved ones were secretly watching.

Be your best self whether people are watching or not.

RAISE YOUR STANDARDS

You are meant to be more.

Focus on being a better human in every area of your life.

ANALYSE THE THINGS THAT ROB YOUR CONFIDENCE

What things do you spend time on that rob your confidence? Can you do less of them?

Also analyse the things that improve your confidence and do more of them.

Know what you’re good at and become even better.

Stop doing the things you suck at – outsource as much as possible.

IF YOU TREATED THE END OF A RELATIONSHIP LIKE YOU TREATED THE BEGINNING THERE WOULD BE NO END

Reflect on that statement and on your past relationships. Does that ring true for you?

THE THING THAT YOU’VE BEEN AVOIDING IS GROWING

Just because you don’t open your bills or avoid looking at your bank account, doesn’t mean your money issues will magically go away.

Keeping how you really feel to yourself won’t make your relationship better or stop people treating you poorly.

What is something you’ve been avoiding that is silently growing in the background?

Make a choice today to deal with it. Face the issue head on.

THAT DREAM YOU KEEP TRYING TO SUPPRESS DOESN’T DO AWAY

The same goes for the dreams you have for yourself.

What goal or action have you been longing to take, that you’re not being honest with yourself about?

Again, choose to take action on it today because it’s worth giving it a go.

DO YOU REALLY JUST WANT TO STAY SOMEWHERE THAT’S JUST OK?

Something I loved that they said in the podcast was, “what if at the end of your life, you were happy with how you’d lived, you’d lived a good life; but someone showed you a video and said well yeah, that’s all great, but here’s a video of the person you  could have been that you chose not to be.”

Did you just feel an “ouch”?

You’ll regret not being willing to go through the pain to get to a better life; what can you do today to become the person you actually can be?
