The other day I sent out a blog and newsletter, the title of which was “Un-fuck yourself in 2024”.
The whole point of the blog is about doing personal development and healing work to help you shed the layers of shit that have dimmed your shine and led you away from your true authentic self. 🥹
I have an amazing bunch of legends who’ve been following my work for a while and those who know me know that I’m a sweary person.
I make no apologies for that, it’s who I am and I know plenty of people actually love my sweary posts! 😂
Just keeping it real.
But I got this email in response from one guy, who also changed the title of the email to “fuck yourself in 2024”;
“Dear Carly
I have been getting your mails and took them as marketing. So no issue.
But this particular one’s language has put me into very awkward situation.
I dunno nor I want to know how you use languages with your parents and kids, but I felt this was unacceptable.
My mail is a family mail box and before unsubscribing, I am letting you know, it was not funny.
What a start of 2024- rudeness.”
Now, I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and I’m totally fine with that. ☕️
I don’t cater my content to children and an adult running and family email account needs to take responsibility for what their kids are able to view.
I also do my best not to swear in front of kids as it’s not appropriate. 🤔
I wrote back what I thought was a diplomatic response:
“Hi {name}
Sorry you feel that way, the word is a turn of phrase and not at all meant as an insult.
Not a problem to unsubscribe from me as I make no apologies for being my authentic self.
Wishing you the very best success and happiness to you and your family in 2024.
Carly”
I then got this back which I think is quite rude considering I wasn’t rude to him at all;
“Dear Carly
Thanks for you quick response in demonstrating the level of arrogance and unrelenting rudeness. 😳
Thankfully it is all about the values and one’s upbringing.
I make no apology also to say, that my cultural values and parents’ teachings backed by 10,000 years of civilisation are not the same with those, who have not the privilege to have the same.
So enjoy yourself “unfxxxg” yourself.

My parents raised with me excellent morals and standards as well as to treat others with respect. 💞
Having said that, I really don’t give a shit what this guy thinks of me as he’s clearly not anything close to the kind of person I’d like to spend my time and energy on. 🤗
