My first sound healing experience – and why I didn’t want it to end

(I honestly thought I was going to be bored out of my brain!)

Years ago now, when I was still a freshie living in Perth, my friend Mandy took me to Freo for a huge group sound healing. 🎶

I’d been doing energy work for years by then and I’d gone through phases of meditating, but hadn’t yet realised my preferred style of meditation is much more active than passive. 🧘🏼‍♀️

So I remember thinking, “Wow, how am I going to lie here for 1.5 hours and not be restless or bored?”

That couldn’t have been further from the truth. 🥰

I could feel the energy of the session winding down and my whole body and soul went, “Noooooooo, please don’t stop!”

I could have stayed there for another hour at least.

There were so many sound healers there doing their thing… some on crystal bowls, gongs, flutes… but what I remember the most was the didgeridoo coming round my head and body and it felt A-MAZING! 🪈

I didn’t realise then that sound doesn’t just help you relax – it can become an anchor that helps quiet a busy mind (which I most definitely have!) and gives your nervous system permission to slow down. 😌

I’ve since fallen in love with crystal bowls, rainsticks and the ocean drum, but I still remember the feeling of this didge over my body.

Over the last few years I’ve been collaborating with two of my Reiki Master students – sound healing is their main jam, and we get together regularly to offer sound and energy healing sessions where I guide the group into a meditation where they expand their energy field, then the sound healer kicks off their magic vibes with crystal bowls, gongs, rainsticks, flutes, ocean drums, crystal pyramids… and I perform an energy healing on the group, with some individual work thrown into the mix where needed. 🌀

No two sessions are ever identical because every group brings a different energy into the room. Since I’ve been learning kinesiology again this year I’ve bought tuning forks because sound healing will be part of my 1:1 sessions. During a recent sound and energy group I needed my tuning forks to balance a client’s heart chakra. 💕

The energy is always expanding and changing, our skills as practitioners are always changing and the energy of each group is very different – but the result is always the same.

Attendees experience change and feel lighter after each session, with many repeat clients! 🫶🏻

We run our sound and energy healing sessions in Floreat (formerly Trigg but we’ve had a venue change) and Kewdale.

Have you ever experienced sound healing?

If you have, what surprised you most?

And if you haven’t… what’s stopping you?

💛 What one attendee experienced:

“I took myself to one of (Carly’s) healing and energy events. I can’t explain how cleansing it was. I had a huge release while I was there and felt way lighter from the heaviness I’d been carrying around.” – Poppy Bee
