Can I ask you something?
When was the last time you asked someone for help? 🤔
Not because you had no other options, but because you were on the verge of a breaking point – because you were fucking done carrying the burden of everything alone all the time.
When I ask my coaching clients this, many struggle to answer and genuinely find it difficult to remember the last time they asked for help. 😵💫
They’ve become so used to coping, that they sometimes mistake it for thriving.
They feel like they’ll burden anyone they ask for help, because the other person already has enough going on, it’s easier if they just handle it themselves.
Does this sound familiar to your own life too?
Hyper-independence can feel much safer than showing your vulnerability to others.
If you never ask for help, you never have to hear no.
If you don’t open up to anyone, nobody can let you down. 🥹
If you always stay in control, you never risk being hurt again.
But those same strategies that protected you from disappointment in the past are now protecting you from connection, support and being seen.
And this also stops you from realising there are people out there who genuinely want to help you – because they care, not because they have to. 😍
Give yourself permission to stop carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders all on your own. This isn’t about becoming dependent on others, it’s about giving yourself grace to receive help when you need it.
Here’s my challenge to you this week: ask for one small thing. Doesn’t have to be life changing – ask someone to help you with a small task, tell a trusted friend how you’re really feeling, or accept help when someone offers it instead of automatically saying, “No thanks, I’m fine”.
Small moments like these are how you begin teaching your nervous system, that support can feel safe… and after a bit of practice, this becomes easier until it becomes your new normal. 💫
You don’t need to keep proving you’re the strong one by never asking for help – you ARE strong.
But enough is enough – life gets better when you learn to share the load.
I’m here if you want to share the load with me.
Drop me a message and let’s chat.
Much love,
