At least once a week, somebody says to me “you’re sooooo lucky!”
Luck has nothing to do with it.
Yesterday I was chatting to a friend about how we have a litter of puppies due this week and she said “you’re soooooo lucky!”
Luck has nothing to do with it – it takes a lot of hard work, years worth of research about the breed, plenty of money and trips to the vet to make it happen – and it doesn’t always work out the way you want it to.
Most people say they’d love a litter of puppies, but aren’t willing to put in the blood, sweat and tears to making it happen. They just want the cuddles and that’s it 🙂
I posted a pic of the ocean on one of my usual beach walks close to my house an a guy in Scotland said “you’re so lucky – it’s so cold here.”
Luck has nothing to do with it. He assumed I’d been raised here in Aus. I first visited Aus from London when I was 19 and spent the next ten years making a permanent move to Australia a reality.
I used to dream about seeing the ocean from my house and being able to walk on the beach every day.
When my friends at home say to me how lucky I am to live here, they talk about how they’d love to be in my position but then reel off a list of excuses as to why they can’t (won’t) make it happen.
My Mum and Dad raised me to know that if I want something enough, I have the power and resources within me to make it happen. And if I don’t know how to do something, then all I need to do is find someone who can teach me.
None of my life has been about luck – it’s been about me being really clear about what I want and then setting goals to make it happen.
Not every dream has to be a fantasy. You just have to dare to go for it.
What have you been dreaming of doing/being/having lately?
How can you step up today to be the person you need to be to make it happen?
Go for it. Life is too short not to.
Catcha on the flip side,
