As I was nearing the end of my time in a day-job in Corrections In January to work in my biz full time, I got so excited about all the extra time I’d have and all the extra cool things I could do in my biz. 💫
My pattern in life has always been to totally overload myself with way too many things to do, which sometimes doesn’t seem like it’s to my detriment because I actually LOVE the work I do. 💕
Then life got extra busy with me selling a house, buying our dream house, renovating and selling a third house and that took a good few months to calm down.
Finally, my nervous system landed in an amazing place with chilled vibes in a chilled house. 🏡
And that old pattern reared its head again, which is easy to do as when you love all the things you do it’s so easy to just keep saying yes to all the clients wanting to book in!
And then, I found myself totally knackered for a few weeks… partly due to perimenopause, partly due to a chronic pain flare up, but mostly due to the fact I was fully booked with 1:1 clients and group workshops.
I realised I’d just swapped one lot of busy-ness for another. 🤔
I’ve been SO used to working 6-7 days a week when I was working full time and running my biz on the side, then phasing out of work and increasing my biz clients, that I had totally normalised a 6-7 day week.
My mantra was “it’s not work if you love what you do!” and to an extent that’s totally true.
But it meant that when I tried to set a “Carly Day” off work, someone would want to book in and I didn’t have space for another 3 weeks so I’d just book them in on my day off.
This led to me forgetting all about days off. 🥹
So for the last few weeks/months I’ve been feeling increasingly behind with my to-do list as I’m often back to back with clients, leaving limited time to create content.
And no time at all for a day off!
So after a lot of consideration (because it has meant needing to let some clients down), I’d finally figured out what’s going to be working for me, and will be taking 3 days off a fortnight with an extra day blocked out for no clients – just life and biz admin.
This gives me two days with Hot Fiance to focus on just us, one full Carly Day to recharge my batteries alone, and one day to get on top of any admin so I feel like I’m on top of things. ☺️
I had to have some difficult chats with clients, but ultimately they understood that for me to be able to bring 100% of my best self to our sessions, I need time to recharge my batteries. 🪫 👉🏼 🔋
I’m excited to be able to have a sleep in, sunbathe by our pool, hit the beach, read more books, take long slow walks, spend time with my big and little loves and just generally be more present. 🏝️
Being a solopreneur is amazing, but it’s also a journey of trial and error in finding the right routine for you, because we’re all so different.
