IT’S ALL ABOUT INTEGRITY
“Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what’s right over what’s fun, fast or easy; and choosing to practice your values rather than simply profess them.”
Integrity is one of my highest values, and it really gives me the shits when I see a lack of it.
I can’t help but speak up when I see people around me being treated unfairly, and sometimes that leads to me being the scapegoat if I’m the only one speaking up.
But I would still rather speak up and be the scapegoat than watch as other people get thrown under the bus.
Like the quote says, it’s about choosing courage over comfort. I’d much rather put myself out of my comfort zone than watch other people get away with shit that goes against my values.
Times in the past where I have been really challenged, usually in a work environment, has been where I have seen other people suffer but grin and bare it because they are too scared to speak up against people higher in the ranks than they are.
There’s always an understandable fear of “what will the consequences be if I speak up?”
The way I look at it is “what will the continued consequences be for me and those around me if I DON’T speak up and allow this shitty behaviour to continue?
No matter what the potential consequences are, when I stand up against what’s wrong then I can know I’ve done my bit and can walk with my head held high.
I know if I do the right thing, the Universe has my back and will support me every step of the way.
People think “things will never change, so why should I put myself in a position like that?”
“I’m just one person, I can’t change the world.”
All the great people of our time were only “just one person” too, but it often takes just one person to make a stand against the bullshit for others to feel like they have the guts to follow suit.
Where are you misaligned with your values right now?
Where in your life do you need to stand up and say “fuck you, and fuck your bullshit way of treating people?”
Catcha on the flip side,
