Don’t let the critics stand in the way of your dreams

Do you have dreams of something you want to be, do or have?

Have you ever tried to action those dreams, but let the critics around you put a stop to it?

Time and time again, I speak with people about the wishes and dreams they have for their future, all the possibilities they see in front of them.

What I also see consistently is a lack of support from those closest to them to support their wishes and dreams.

It might be your partner, parents, best mate or even your kids.

They tell you it won’t work in the real world, what would you know about running a business?

They’ll throw stats at you about how many businesses fail in the first year.

They’ll berate you for wanting to spend that amount of money on that thing you want to invest in for your future.

They’ll talk about the people they know who tried to do the same thing and failed miserably.

Are any of them getting up off their butts reaching for their own goals and dreams?

Or are they just dishing out advice based on something they’ve never tried themselves?

David T S Wood says “don’t take advice from broke, unhappy people.”

NEVER let anyone kill your dreams.

If you’re getting that inner nudge to do something different, go for it.

BUT it’s also really important to surround yourself with a community of people who will be your CHEERLEADER through it – no matter whether you’re having a good day or a not so good day.

Find other people who’ve done what you want to do and achieved what you want to achieve – and listen to them, follow what they did to reach success and ignore the critics who are trying to keep you “safe.”

They usually mean well, but ask yourself; how qualified are they to give you advice on that particular thing?

The most successful people have failed many times before their “overnight success.”

You don’t know unless you try.

Keep plugging away at your dreams.

Sometimes we need to do it on the down low from those we love, only sharing what we know they’ll support us in, until we can show them evidence of our success.

Sad but true.

We want to be able to share everything with those we love, but they won’t always share our excitement about it and that can be a real mood killer.

If all the winners in the world let their critics destroy their dreams, the world would be a sad and lonely place.

We NEED winners like you in the world.
