If you never do more than you can do, you will never be more than you are

Most of us will never be more than average.

Most of us will always have that nagging feeling of knowing that we could do better, achieve more, earn more, live with more adventure and be happier than we are right now.

But, when you get home from work knackered after a long day, being tired is just another reason not to try.

Not to try to achieve your dreams and desires.

How often have you closed the door on an opportunity because you didn’t think you could do it?

How will you ever know if you don’t give it a shot?

What’s the worst that can happen anyway?

In your last moments in life will you be happy with what you achieved or will you regret the things you didn’t do?

I’m proud of the things I’ve done that have scared me shitless at the time.

I moved from London to Australia on my own and was so excited but also shitting my pants. There were so many unknowns. What if I didn’t get a job/visa/place to stay?

I knew that no matter what it would work out somehow even if it was hard. And yes it was definitely not easy, but over 7 years down the track waiting for my citizenship to come through it was worth it.

When I met the man I knew was the love of my life and he lived the other side of he country, I moved to be with him after two months of knowing each other. Was I mad? Probably. What if it didn’t work out? But over 7 years on, engaged having built our dream home, it was totally worth it.

When I quit my day job to do my biz full time was I scared? Of course!! And it wasn’t easy, but I did it. A year and a half later I went back to work because I missed being part of a team and missed the crazy work I do in my day job in Corrections – I can’t get that in my biz. If I’d never given it a shot I would have always wondered what it could be like.

Take the leap and do something you desire to do, because either it’ll be worth it or it won’t work out but even if it doesn’t you’ll get some great lessons and growth out of it. It could even lead you to better opportunities.

You won’t know if you never try to be more than you can be.

Being what you can be is easy – that’s living in your comfort zone, your zone of competence.

It doesn’t take long for your zone of competence to bore the life out of you.

When it does, you become unwell, stressed, tired, unhappy, and have a “mid life crisis” – whatever that means for you.

Fuck living in your zone of incompetence.

It’s time to live in your zone of genius.

I believe in you. It’s time you believed in yourself.

Catcha on the flip side,
